Dallas / Fort Worth

Dallas is a city in the state of Texas. It was established in 1856, eleven years after Texas became part of the United States. With the construction of railroads, Dallas became a business and trading center and became popular due to its cotton and oil industries.

 

On November 22, 1963, Dallas became more popular after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on Elm Street.

 

Throughout the years, Dallas has become a global city. With its diverse economy, Dallas has become an important location for different sectors including defense, financial services, information technology, telecommunications, and transportation. Dallas serves as the headquarters for nine Fortune 500 companies including Exxon Mobil, AT&T, American Airlines Group, Southwest Airlines, and Texas Instruments.

 

POPULATION

 

Dallas is one of the fasting-growing cities in the US. Together with Forth Worth, the DFW area is the forth most populous metropolitan area in the United States with a population of more than seven million people. From 2010 to 2016, Dallas had the highest number of domestic migration in the country with more than 300, 000 people. Incentives for moving to Dallas include job and educational opportunities and affordable housing.

According to the 2010 US Census, Texas is the second largest state with the largest Vietnamese population. Arlington-Fort-Worth-Arlington together has the 4th largest Vietnamese population with more than 100,000 people. Immigrants started coming to the DFW area in the 1970s after the Vietnam War and have built a strong community. Today you can find Vietnamese-American in all economic sectors in the DFW area including education, healthcare, telecommunications, information technology, transportation, skilled labor and service.

 

 

BEST TIME TO VISIT

 

Dallas enjoys all four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. It has a humid subtropical climate, which in most times of the year is fairly mild. This makes any month ideal for traveling here. However, summers in Dallas can bring temperatures upwards in the 90’s F or low 100’s F.
